About Tempur-Pedic Adjustable Sleep System

When the topic of new bed technology comes up, the conversation frequently becomes about Tempur-Pedic adjustable sleep system offerings. Unless you’ve put some time and energy into actual research on adjustable beds, it’s hard to place the well-known Tempur-Pedic adjustable bed brand into its rightful context.

Tempur-Pedic was an innovator in the early years of memory foam mattress development and also one of the first adjustable bed companies to put a residential model on the market. These two innovations helped earn Tempur-Pedic fans and the company expanded greatly as a result. Flush with cash, the company has embarked on far-reaching advertising campaigns that have garnered them wide-spread name recognition – but at a cost.

The marketing efforts of the Tempur-Pedic company – combined with significant expenses incurred through overhead associated with the brand’s multitude of brick-and-mortar showrooms located in major cities in many parts of the country – have stymied research and further development. In the years since Tempur-Pedic’s initial success, the company has done little to further innovate its product.

Tempur-Pedic technology has not changed much since those early days and the company continues to trade on the name recognition built prior to the adjustable bed market’s expansion of recent years – yet prices have remained significantly more than high quality competitors like Simply Rest that offers the Signature and Signature Select adjustable bed models.

Because Simply Rest is online-based and does not market through expensive advertising campaigns in traditional media, a significant reduction in overhead costs are realized and associated savings are passed on to consumers through smaller price tags on models like the Signature and Signature Select adjustable beds where higher quality materials are used under stricter manufacturing standards.

When you compare the Simply Rest Signature and Signature Select model series with Tempur-Pedic’s Ergo, Advanced Ergo and Grand Ergo line, the disparity between these brands is apparent.

The Simply Rest Signature and Signature Select models have wired and wireless remote, respectively and head elevation capability of 63 degrees – ample for upright activities or elevated sleep and many positions in between. .

Conversely, the Tempur-Pedic Ergo has a wired remote control while the Advanced Ergo and Grand Ergo come with wireless control devices. The Ergo has a head elevation capacity of 65 degrees while the other two models come in at 70 degrees – not a significant difference from the Simply Rest models.

And then there is cost. The cost of the Simply Rest Signature adjustable bed sells for an ultra-affordable $749 while the Signature Select is a slightly larger investment at $999. Comparatively, the Tempur-Pedic Ergo retails for $1,100; the Advanced Ergo for $1,500; and the Grand Ergo sells for a whopping $4,500. Remember, these prices do not include the cost of a mattress – another area where Tempur-Pedic charges at the top of the market.

If you want to know about Tempur-Pedic adjustable sleep system, it all boils down to quality and price. When compared to top competitors like Simply Rest, there is little to differentiate the Tempur-Pedic brand. Even so, Tempur-Pedic adjustable beds are priced substantially more than comparable brands. And that’s fine – if you enjoy supporting a company’s overhead costs.
